Position Title: Professional Cookery Facilitator

Position Overview
Sparrow FET College is seeking a dedicated and experienced Professional Cookery Facilitator to deliver high-quality training to students enrolled in our Professional Cookery programme. The successful candidate will combine strong industry expertise with proven training and facilitation skills to ensure learners gain both theoretical knowledge and practical competencies in line with SETA standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver and facilitate training in Professional Cookery (NQF-aligned programmes).
- Develop lesson plans, practical demonstrations, and learning materials.
- Conduct assessments and provide constructive feedback to learners.
- Maintain learner records in line with SETA and college requirements.
- Prepare students for both formative and summative assessments.
- Ensure compliance with quality assurance processes, including moderation.
- Provide mentorship and industry insights to support learner development.
- Collaborate with colleagues and management to maintain programme quality standards.
Minimum Requirements
- Relevant qualification in Professional Cookery / Culinary Arts (minimum NQF Level 4 or higher).
- ETDP/Assessor Certificate (Moderator Certificate advantageous).
- Minimum 3 years industry experience in a professional kitchen or culinary environment.
- At least 2 years’ training/facilitation experience in a TVET/FET or similar learning environment.
- Strong knowledge of SETA and quality assurance requirements.
- Intermediate computer literacy (MS Office, email, learner management systems).
- Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
- Ability to mentor and inspire learners from diverse backgrounds.
