Type of Leave Qualifications and Conditions Exclusions or Notes
Annual Leave Accumulated annually; must be planned with managers. Unused leave may be forfeited at year-end.
Sick Leave 1 day per 26 worked in first 6 months; thereafter, 30 days per 36-month cycle. Medical certificate required if absent more than two days. Unverified absences may lead to unpaid leave.
Maternity Leave For permanent staff with advance notification and medical certification. Supported by UIF. Contract staff may have different benefits. Early return requires doctor’s note.
Paternity Leave 10 days for child’s birth, excluding mothers who give birth. Not applicable to birth mothers.
Adoption Leave 10 weeks for one parent adopting a child under two. Advance notice required. Only one parent eligible if both are adopting.
Family Responsibility/Compassionate Leave 3 days per cycle for immediate family emergencies, requires proof. Does not carry over; forfeited if unused.
Study Leave Subject to Study Leave Policy; requires approval. Approval based on relevance and timing.
Unpaid Leave Requires fully motivated application and manager approval. Depends on operational needs and employee standing.
